Petroleum Flyers win Tier 1 B banner

first_imgFORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Midget Petroleum Association Flyers came away with the Tier 1 B banner after a two game series with Beaverlodge over the weekend. The Flyers won game one 5-2, but lost game two 6-5, however they took the banner with a 10-8 win on aggregate.The Flyers got off to a great start in game one as they got on the board early less than three minutes into the contest.Heading into the second with a two goal lead Flyers got another early period tally to go up three.- Advertisement -The Blades battled back in the third period to close to within one, however two Fort St. John goals over the final seven minutes rounded out the scoring.Scoring for the Flyers were Max Dobson (2), Jayden Piket, Daniel Forrest, Reid Jacobs.In game two on Sunday back in Fort St. John the Flyers again scored first but the Blades tied the game less than a minute later. The Blades took a 2-1 lead with six and a half minutes to play in the opening frame.Advertisement The Flyers had a big second period as they scored four times but were tied with the Blades at five after 40 minutes.Beaverlodge took the lead in the third less than a minute in, however they were unable to get closer in the overall score.Flyers goals in the second game were scored by Max Dobson (3), Tim Rice, and Jayden Piket.Next for the team is a trip to Prince George to take part in Tier 2 provincials.Advertisementlast_img
