first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailEPHRAIM, Utah-The Badgers finally seemed to click on both sides of the ball in the second half, defeating the Air Force Academy Prep. Huskies by a score of 31-16.Snow College’s first drive ended when QB Braxton Kerr threw his first interception of the game. The defense would force Air Force to a 3-and-out, but the punt was fumbled and the ball was recovered by the Huskies in the end zone for a safety, putting the away side up 2-0 early on.Air Force’s ensuing drive took them all the way to the endzone, and the Badgers found themselves down 9-0 with 11:07 left to play in the first quarter. Five minutes into the second quarter Kerr started to flash his abilities leading the offense 75 yards on 11 plays as RB Sione Molisi punched into the endzone for the Badgers first touchdown in front of their home crowd. The defense came up big behind LB Jeremiah Ieremia’s sack on 3rd down giving the offense an opportunity to take the lead. Kerr would find WR Keashawn McCoy for a 29 yard reception and another Badgers touchdown giving Snow College a 14-9 lead. Air Force QB Ben Brittain threw his only touchdown pass of the game with 1:12 left in the first half, retaking the lead 16-14. The Badgers offense looked to score right before the half but their attempt was halted when Kerr was picked off for the second time of the night.Snow dominated the second half as the defense continued to shut down the running game while the offense was able to capitalize on the ground. RB Shammah Luani had two rushing touchdowns, one in the 3rd quarter and another in the 4th with 2:51 until the final whistle. All in all, Snow College was able to adapt to the offensive attack from Air Force and shut them out in the 2nd half. The Badgers’ no-huddle offense was effective in scoring quickly and wearing down the Husky defense. There are still a few loose ends to work out; the offense had 4 turnovers (2 INT and 2 fumbles), and the Badgers were flagged 7 times losing a total of 64 yards on penalties, but the team looked more confident and convincing in their second half dominance. The Badgers will continue in their quest to defend their home turf next week against power house Lackawanna College at 1 p.m. MST in Ephraim.
